In Addition, The Railway Chose To Provide A “Snack Meal” Meal Option Featuring Regional Foods, Cuisine, And Flavours. The “Snack Meal” Will Be Offered For 50 Cents A Serving And Come In Portions Of 350 Grammes (Inclusive Of Gst). The “Snack Meal” Menu And Any Accompanying Or Side Items (Such As Raita/pickle/salad/papad, If Any) Will Be Chosen And Announced By Irctc.
Irctc Will Choose The Menu Items For The Newly Introduced Regular Meals (Items) Within The Aforementioned Set Announced Pricing. The Newly Offered Menu Selections Must Be Provided By Irctc In Such A Manner That The Quality And Quality Are In Line With The Price And No Underbenefit Is Transferred To The Service Provider.
On Mail/express Trains, No A-la-carte Food Sales Are Allowed. But, A-la-carte Munchies Like Pakodas And Samosas May Still Be Available.
Indian Railway Stated On November 15, 2022 That It Had Been Decided To Give Irctc Flexibility To Customise The Menu In Order To Include Items Of Regional Cuisines Or Preferences, Seasonal Delicacies, Requirements During Festivals, Food Items As Per The Preferences Of Different Groups Of Passengers, Such As Diabetic Food, Baby Food, Health Food Options Including Millet-based Local Products, Etc.
The Menu For Prepared Trains Where Catering Costs Are Already Included In The Passenger Fee Will Be Chosen By Irctc Based On The Previously Announced Rate. Also, These Prepaid Trains Would Be Able To Sell A-la-carte Meals And Branded Food Products On Mrp. Irctc Will Choose The A-la-carte Meals’ Menu And Price.
Irctc Must Choose The Menu Of Low-cost Segment Products, Such As Standard Lunches, For Additional Mail/express Trains Within The Bounds Of The Set Price Previously Announced. Janata Meals’ Menu And Price Will Not Change.
In Mail/express Trains, The Sale Of A-la-carte Meals And Branded Food Products On Mrp Is Authorised. Irctc Will Choose The A-la-carte Meals’ Menu And Price.
Irctc Must Make Sure The Following While Choosing The Menu:
In Order To Prevent Passenger Complaints, Improvements In Food Quality And Service Standards Are Maintained, And Safeguards Are In Place To Prevent Frequent And Unnecessary Changes Like Reducing Quantity And Quality, Using Subpar Brands, Etc.
The Menu Should Be In Line With The Tariff, And Before Being Introduced, Menus Are Pre-notified To The Railway For Its Consideration And The Knowledge Of The Passengers.

- Users who have not booked their food at the time of booking their tickets can now do so using the process mentioned in point below before charting of the train (charts are normally prepared four hours before the schedule departure of the train).
- Users can book food & make payment by visiting IRCTC tourism URL- https://www.irctctourism.com/BookFood.
- Users having PRS counter tickets can also book their food using above link.
- Passengers will be asked to input PNR in the portal & pay online along with choice for Veg./non-veg.
- Users can also cancel their food option before first charting of the train (normally four hours before the departure of the train). Full refund of catering charges will be made retaining the GST charges. GST collected will not be refunded.
- No refund will be made to users who cancel their food option after charting.
