This Seminar’s Main Goal Is To Include Viewpoints From The Humanities And Social Sciences Into The Study Of Environmental Challenges. We’ll Examine The Ways That Culture, Morals, And The Very Essence Of People Have Influenced Our Environmental Predicament.

In Combination With An Interdisciplinary Faculty Seminar, The Capstone Is Planned (Which Meets Every Other Tuesday). Participation In The Seminar Will Serve As A Foundation For Our Capstone Talks.

This Structure Enables Us To Bring Together A Diverse Group Of Individuals, Including Academics, Undergraduate And Graduate Students, And Anybody Else Interested In Jointly Exploring “New” Ground. There Are No “Correct” Ways To Consider The Concepts We Will Explore, Therefore We Will Depend On Everyone’s Views And Experience.

We Want To Examine Some Of The Cultural And Societal Contradictions That We Believe Have Contributed To Some Of Our Environmental Problems And That Prevent Us From Taking Effective Action This Year. A Framework For Comprehending These Dynamics And Methods For Resolving The Paradoxes Present In Environmental Challenges Will Be Developed Throughout The Course.

The Task Of Producing Some Integration And Synthesis Of The Different Courses You Have Done Is Made More Difficult By The Flexibility Of An Independent Concentration (Icp). Furthermore, Despite The Fact That There Are Many Icp Majors, There Haven’t Been Many Chances For You Guys To Collaborate.

The Capstone Is An Attempt To Provide A Context In Which We May Start Jointly Examining Some Of The Most Significant Issues. This Is A Seminar-style Lesson. It Is Required Of Each Of You To Actively Participate In The Group, Participate In Discussions With The Instructors, And Encourage And Provide Constructive Criticism (Both Verbally And In Writing) To Your Coworkers.

Tuesday And Thursday From 1:00 To 2:30 P.m. Beginning On September 14th, We Will Meet With The Faculty Seminar Every Other Tuesday. Written Assignments, Participation In Class, And Presentations Will All Factor Towards Grades. Office Hours Will Be Announced In Class. We Urge You Everyone To Meet With One Of Us At Least Once.

Several Novels Will Be Read In Their Entirety. They’ll Be Offered At Shaman Drum (313 S. State, 662-7407). Dollar Bill Copying Has The Course Packet (611 Church, 665-9200). We Will Have A Variety Of Optional Reading Materials Available On Reserve At The Undergraduate Library In Addition To The Required Readings And Books.

Moreover: You Will Work In Small Groups Of Two To Three People To Choose The Readings For The Class Discussion. These Two Weeks Must Pass Before You Teach Class, Thus We Must Have Them. These Resources May Include Extra Chapters From Books That Have Already Been Given For The Course, Articles, Novels, Or Even Movies Or Music. Per Class Time, Please Keep The Readings To About 20 Pages.
